Estimated yardage is based on 35" wide canvas.</p></p> <table border=0> <tr><td colspan=2 height=40 valign="bottom"> <hr><b>Step 1...</b>Figure length and number of flat-side panels. </td></tr> <tr><td> <b><i>for length:</b></i></p> Using the Pythagoras Theorem: </p> A² + B² = C² or 144 + 64 = 208<br> "208 = 14.42</p> Because this is a measurement for one panel for one flat side, then<br> 14.42 x 2 = 28.84 <br> Allow 1 inch on each end for seam allowance, So each panel will be 29 feet long or 9 yards, 2 feet. This will span from the ground over the ridge pole and back to the ground on the other side. </td> <td align="center"><img src="bell-1a.gif"></td> </tr> <tr><td> <b><i>for number of panels:</b></i></p> If fabric width is 35", then figure 33 . (seam allowance) <br> Width of flat section is 12 feet (see shaded section of diagram) or 144 inches.<br> 144 ÷ 33 = 4.36</p> So you will need 4 panels plus 1 foot for the flat side of the tent.</p> </td> <td align="center"><img src="bell-1b.gif"></td> </tr> <tr><td colspan=2 height=40 valign="bottom"> <hr><b>Step 2...</b>Figure half of the circumference and divide that by the width of your canvas. </td> </td></tr> <tr><td valign="top"> For example:<br> c=À2r ; c = 3.14 (16) = 50.26 feet or 603 inches.<br> Half this amount = 25.13 feet or 301.59 inches.<br> If fabric width is 35", then figure 33 .
